I recently visited the United Arab Emirates and toured the country. I found Dubai to be the most interesting and decadent of all its cities. With the recent opening of the tallest hotel in the world, the JW Marriott Marquis, another level of luxury was added.
Aside from the exaggerated extravagance displayed in Dubai, I can think of at least 10 reasons to visit this city, either on a stop over or as an exhilarating destination of its own.
1. Curiosity: to see what money can buy
2. A decadent weekend to pamper and indulge
3. Bragging rights
4. A chance to visit the gold souks and, perhaps, make a purchase
5. Tea at the Burj Al Arab
6. Seeing the sight of an indoor ski resort
7. A desert safari: 4WD over the sand dunes and enjoy a traditional Bedouin experience
8. A visit to the Burj Khalifa, the tallest building in the world at 2,700 feet
9. World class shopping
10. World class dining
Yes, Dubai is like no other city in the world.
