8 Day Kenya Safari: Royal Concorde

August 25, 2012 | By

This is an incredible itinerary to see the best Kenya has to offer and experience some amazing African wildlife!

Day 1. Arrive Nairobi.
On arrival at Jomo Kenyatta Airport, you will be met and assisted by a representative and transferred to your hotel.  The rest of your day is spent at leisure in Nairobi.

A visit to the Karen Blixen museum, Giraffe Centre, Daphne Scheldrick Animal Orphanage and the spectacular Nairobi National Park are some of the most rewarding tours covering historical developments of the country to wildlife in the city.

The Fairmont Norfolk Hotel

Day 2. Aberdare National Park.
After breakfast, drive north towards the lush foothills of the Aberdares Mountain Range to the Aberdares Country Club for lunch. After lunch transfer to The Ark overlooking a waterhole and salt lick where the ‘Big Five’ occasionally gather for an exhilarating night of wild encounters.

The Ark
Resembling, and named after, Noah’s Ark, the Ark comprises three decks from which numerous balconies and lounges provide superb vantage points for game viewing. A ground level bunker provides excellent photographic opportunities and takes you closer than you would believe possible to the animals.

Day 3. Mount Kenya National Park.
After breakfast we drive to the world famous Mt. Kenya Safari Club founded by William Holden. On a clear day you will see the magnificent mountain in its full splendor. The club offers glorious views of the mountain and forest, delightful gardens, a 9-hole golf course and a splendid colonial-style ambiance with roaring log fires. We arrive in time for lunch at your lodge.  Your afternoon at leisure with optional excursions from the lodge.

The Fairmont Mt Kenya Safari Club (2 nights)
From the outset it attracted a cosmopolitan and glamorous clientele – those connected with Hollywood and the royalty and jet set who found the Hollywood connection irresistible. The Club still retains a strong sense of history and, unlike many hotels, has not swept away the old in favor of the new.

Day 4. Mount Kenya National Park.
After breakfast, we drive to The Sweetwaters Wildlife Sanctuary for morning game drive.  The reserve is home to the only chimpanzee sanctuary in Kenya and we return to your lodge for lunch. This afternoon is at leisure admiring the magnificence of the mountain.

Day 5. Masai Mara National Game Reserve.
After breakfast, we transfer to Nanyuki Airport for your morning scenic scheduled flight over the Great Rift Valley to the Masai Mara National Reserve offering wonderful scenery and plenty of game. It is perhaps the only region left in Kenya where the visitor may see animals in the same super-abundance as existed a century ago.   You will be met on arrival and transferred to your lodge.  Afternoon shared game drives.

The Fairmont Mara Safari Club (3 nights)
The well-appointed Fairmont Mara Safari Club is set by the Mara River at the foot of the Aitong Hills in the Ol-Choro Oiroua Conservation Area that borders the Masai Mara Game Reserve.

Day 6 and 7. Masai Mara National Game Reserve.
Two days are spent game viewing in the reserve with early morning and afternoon shared game drives. Early morning optional balloon ride with champagne style breakfast is available (additional cost)

Day 8. Depart.
After breakfast; we transfer to the airstrip for morning scheduled flight to Nairobi.  You will be met on arrival at Wilson Airport and transferred to the famous Carnivore Restaurant for lunch.  After lunch you will be dropped Jomo Kenya Airport for your onward arrangements.  A representative will reconfirm your flights and assist at check-in.
