A room isn’t just a room, when you upgrade to a beautiful suite where tropical fruit is delivered at your door to welcome you. Or when the view of the ocean is available from every room.  This was our experience at the Sheraton Beach Resort in Apia, Samoa. Every detail was pristine from the immaculately groomed grounds, to the crisp sheets and fluffed pillows.

We arrived early, our rooms were ready with bottles of water and a view of the front lawn accompanied by the ocean and beyond. Happy hour offered numerous specials ranging from beer to local, creative options, all at reasonable prices. We nourished ourselves on the best fish and chips I’ve ever eaten!  All while viewing the pool, which curved around and around until our eyes met the blue of the ocean and the horizon.

The service we were given, set a whole new level of expectation. Tai, our bellman, was at our beck and call and provided us with information, answered all of our questions and acted as a concierge setting up a private tour for us. All the staff from the reception area, restaurants and the bar, excelled at accommodating us and all were excellent at their jobs. Emanuele, their leader, was obviously one of the reasons why.  Good service levels come from the top down and this property was no exception.

The buffet breakfast, included in all room rates, offered at least four to five different types of bread.  All ranging from flavors like yogurt bread, date bread, cinnamon bread, along with the standard banana bread, carrot bread, etc. Our only problem was trying to figure out how to choose. We could order any style of egg, waffles, pancakes and numerous sides with a plentiful array of tropical fruits, that we thoroughly enjoyed. Our coffee and tea cups were kept filled and every need was fully met.

Did I mention the fish and chips?

The spa options were numerous and we enjoyed a fabulous massage that then followed a magical foot treatment, outside, where we listened to the ocean and had a view of the colorful foliage.

While the weather during our stay, wasn’t always sunny, the atmosphere at the Sheraton Samoa Beach Resort allowed us to hardly notice.

What a great escape from the cold, Denver, Colorado winter and a true treat we found in Apia, Samoa!
