Hermitage Bay – Antigua’s Natural Paradise

Located in a hidden cove on the southwest coast of Antigua you will find Hermitage Bay. This 5-star truly boutique, adult-only, all-inclusive property only has 30 suites (17 built into the hillside and 13 on the beach). The privacy level and breathtaking views increase (along with the price of the suites) as you go up the hillside. I have never seen a property set up like this and fell in love with it immediately.

If you and your partner are looking for a very quiet, calm and tranquil Caribbean vacation experience then Hermitage Bay is the place for you.

The entire property closes for 2 months from the end of August to early October for yearly maintenance during the off-peak travel time. This makes sense since there is only one restaurant, a single bar lounge and a main infinity pool. During my tour of the property, we had lunch in the restaurant and I must say it was one of the most delicious lunches I have ever had. It would not bother me to eat three meals a day here as they make sure to keep the menu rotating with fresh and healthy selections.

When deciding between a beachfront suite and a hillside suite keep in mind that the beachfront suites have more living space and are closer to the main area. If you stay in one of the hillside suites you have a private plunge pool and beautiful views of the area. Hillside guests can either walk up the path to their suites or arrange for a golf cart to take you to and from your suite to the main area. Guests are not allowed to drive the carts themselves on the steep and windy road. All 30 rooms have surround sound, a soaking tub, an outdoor shower and independent Wi-Fi.

I’m not sure why you’d want to leave your room, but if you decide to relax on the beach, you can put a flag in the sand next to your beach chair to call over an attendant for service of drinks or any other need you may have. Unmotorized water sport options include snorkeling, paddle boarding, kayaking and more. There is a fitness center with yoga, Pilates and water fitness classes offered on alternating days. The spa is built into the hillside and is a must-visit during your stay.
