Luxury Glamping Review: The Resort at Paws Up, Montana

Our multi-generational family went to The Resort at Paws Up to celebrate my mom’s 80th birthday. It was a lifelong dream to experience Paws Up glamping, and was a spectacular setting for a multi-generational getaway.

We flew into Missoula, Montana and were met by a resort shuttle that took us out to the resort. Our group reserved three tents in the Cliffside camp. The tents have permanent, attached bathrooms with nice tile, double sinks and large showers with heated towel racks (no outhouses here!). The tent’s bedrooms are beautifully decorated in “Ralph Lauren-like western style” with beds that are “real” like you’d have at home or in a nice hotel. The resort has six different glamping camps, each with their own dining pavilion. There are also luxury homes on the property that your group can rent if glamping is not your style.

The dining pavilion was a true delight. It served breakfast and dinner to only the folks in the six tents in our camp. Cliffside dining pavilion is a beautiful indoor/outdoor structure perched on a cliff above the Blackfoot River staffed with camp butlers (young outdoorsy types) and chefs. The omelet station at breakfast and the after dinner fireside s’mores spread were among the highlights for sure. Each had a multitude of delicious and varied ingredients from the expected to the unexpected.

Our group made some amazing memories at Paws Up. We had a blast hot air ballooning (Mom’s special birthday activity), used all the watercraft and toys during an afternoon at the island lodge at Salmon Lake, and rafted down the Blackfoot River. Some of us shot sporting clays, went ATV riding, rappelling, fly fishing, and had spa treatments.

Tip:  Plan your activities ahead of your stay. While we planned our key activities in advance, we were not able to add any equestrian activities while onsite because they were already full.

* Activities are not included in the base price of the stay.

For a luxury summer camp-type of experience for all ages, I recommend Paws Up and I’d be delighted to help you plan a visit. As a Virtuoso Member, my clients receive complimentary Virtuoso benefits that include:
