Luxury Hotel Review: Halekulani, Honolulu, Hawaii

I was able to travel to Honolulu the first part of October and spend six nights at the beautiful Halekulani. What a wonderful hotel. The experience staying at this property is really special. I couldn’t wait to get back to my room every night to see what note and small gift had been left on my bed with the turndown service. With a little over 400 rooms and suites and a staff of over 800 employees, the service was impeccable.

Because Andavo Travel and Halekulani are both Virtuoso members, if you book a stay at Halekulani through me (or any other Andavo travel advisor), you will receive the following complimentary amenities during your stay:

– Daily buffet breakfast, for up to two in room guests at either House Without a Key (buffet breakfast) or Orchids (full American breakfast).
– $100-$200 hotel credit (depending on room type booked).
– Upgrade at time of booking, subject to availability on partial and oceanview rooms. Upgrade upon arrival, subject to availability on all other categories (excluding suites).
– Early check-in/late check-out, subject to availability

The location of the hotel is close to shopping and a lot of great restaurants. Also close by the hotel were several food trucks. We ate at one on Beach Walk Street around the corner from the hotel. We had a garlic shrimp meal that was inexpensive and very tasty. Also on that street is an Italian restaurant called Arancino’s where we enjoyed a nice meal.

Not far from downtown Honolulu is Leonard’s Bakery. They are famous for their Portuguese doughnuts that don’t have a hole, called malasadas. They are delicious and well worth the effort – especially when you get them hot.

I was able to visit several other hotels during my stay on Oahu. The Modern Hotel and The Kahala, both Virtuoso properties, and the Aulani, the Disney hotel in Ko Olina, about 40 minutes from Honolulu. All great properties.
