Luxury Hotel Review: Trump International Hotel, Washington, D.C.

On our last trip to D.C., we had walked past the Old Post Office Building on Pennsylvania Ave. – a grand structure with a clock tower making it the third tallest building in the city. It was under redevelopment to be transformed into the luxurious 260-room Trump International Hotel. Opened in October 2016, its architectural beauty preserved, it seemed like, if nothing else, an attraction we wanted to visit.

If you’re interested in an oasis of calm in a historical setting, close to the White House and adjacent to federal agencies (the IRS Building is right behind it!), it is an experience you won’t find anywhere else.

The nine-story Grand Lobby is a ginormous lounge area with a large bar (the Benjamin Bar and Lounge) and fabulous food from New York chef David Burke, whose restaurant, BLT Prime by David Burke, overlooks the lobby.

The accommodations, as you might expect, are first rate. And the view of the Washington Monument and the Federal Triangle was stunning.

If you stay, don’t miss a visit up the clock tower. It’s free, and it takes you to the top where you can see the bell and a 360 degree panorama view of the city. Great for kids! Our niece and nephews had a blast.

The 5 Star Trump International Hotel is a Virtuoso Member. Complimentary Virtuoso amenities for 2018 include:
– Upgrade on arrival, subject to availability
– Full breakfast daily in BLT Prime for up to 2 in-room guests
– $100 hotel credit to be utilized during stay
– Early check-in/late check-out, subject to availability
– Wi-Fi

Plus, from now through September 3, 2018, stay two nights and enjoy the third night free. All Virtuoso amenities are still included.
