Just the word “Tahiti” conjures up images of crystal clear, turquoise water that beg you to enter, over-water bungalows that beckon, and a tropical paradise that breathes romance.
I just got back from staying at the St. Regis Resort in Bora Bora, which epitomizes these images, but also boasts service, cuisine and enchantment for anyone celebrating a romantic moment. The over-water bungalow suites are spacious and well-designed with an enormous open shower, bathtub, private plunge pool, deck and living area — not to mention a luxurious bedroom facing the deck and the water beyond.
After a swim you may find yourself enjoying a glass of champagne under a thatched area of the deck that would also be the perfect setting for a lovely morning coffee or a romantic dinner.
There are many wonderful features at this expansive 44 acre resort, including a lagoonarium where you may snorkel among new coral beds. There are an assortment of water activities available; you have only to ask the beach boy.
Each bungalow has a butler for that early morning coffee or help in packing all your treasures before you leave. There is the Miri Miri Spa by Clarins to help you unwind from your 8 hour flight, or check out the fitness center, which is open 24 hours per day. Tennis, snorkeling, hammocks, kayaking and more are available for the guests at the St. Regis.
There are several dining options, including the Jean George award-winning restaurant, Lagoon. Here you will find fine French cuisine and Asian-infused items as you dine in the restaurant that is actually perched over the lagoon, enjoying its magnificent views.
For those desiring a very special honeymoon, anniversary, or just an exclusive getaway, the St. Regis Bora Bora is a very tempting option. You won’t be disappointed.
