I just returned from a fabulous vacation to the San Diego area. My husband, two-year-old daughter and I stayed in Carlsbad at the Omni La Costa Resort & Spa for a week.
The resort grounds are impressive, with sparkling white Spanish-style buildings and beautiful well-kept foliage. I loved that there were multiple spots to stop and enjoy the grounds: wooden porch swings surrounded by bougainvillea, benches near beautiful water fountains, etc.
Since we were there with our toddler daughter, we absolutely loved all of the family/kid amenities the resort offers. The kiddie pool with sloped entry and sandy beach play area was a huge hit, as were the splash pad and gentle water slide. We enjoyed taking her to a reptile show one day, daily balloon animals and face painting, and toasting s’mores on the patio at night. There are many more activities that would appeal to older children as well – daily crafts, water slide races and more.
When we wanted some adult time, there was plenty of that available as well. The resort has an adults-only pool, my husband golfed at what La Costa says is “Southern California’s only gold medal golf course” and I enjoyed a treatment at the resort’s spa which La Costa says is “the nation’s #1 wellness spa.” In addition to the huge list of children’s activities available daily, the resort also offers complimentary and paid fitness classes at the Athletic Club and meditation sessions at the Chopra Center.
We stayed in a La Costa Premium Room and were very happy there. The accommodations were very roomy, comfortable, updated and the resort’s Garden Pools were right outside our patio’s French doors.
The resort had so much to offer that we found it hard to leave, but there are some great restaurants in the Carlsbad and Encinitas area that we “forced” ourselves to try (Pizza Port was crazy delicious). Plus we spent a day each at SeaWorld and the San Diego zoo, which were both only about 20-30 minutes drive from La Costa. And of course, there are a multitude of beautiful beaches only minutes away from the resort.
I would highly recommend staying at La Costa for your next SoCal vacation. And because so many of Andavo Travel’s advisors have sent clients there over the years, we have a great relationship with La Costa. They will many times offer our clients special amenities, such as a complimentary breakfast buffet at Bistro 65 (it was amazing!), free valet parking and complimentary room upgrades upon arrival, if available.
