Turks and Caicos Hotels: Grace Bay Club and Como Parrot Cay

August 7, 2018 | By

My July travels took me to beautiful Turks and Caicos. We spent the first two nights at Grace Bay Club and the remaining three at Como Parrot Cay. Talk about jaw-dropping water! It’s like stepping into a swimming pool – calm, crystal blue water on Grace Bay. And even better on Parrot Cay. You can walk 100 yards out into the ocean and still be in 4 feet of water.

Grace Bay Club has been an award-winning hotel on Grace Bay for years and they have not lost their touch! We stayed in an ocean-facing luxury 2 bedroom suite. This villa was beyond my expectations and certainly did not lack space, totaling 2,238 square feet. This hotel pays attention to every detail and takes notice of even the littlest things about your stay. My children walked the grounds each day smiling ear-to-ear and every single employee – from those tending the lawn to the guest services manager – stopped their day, bent down, and greeted my little ones. As I said, the personal touches are what made the stay feel like a 5 star experience. We were showered with champagne and chocolate-covered strawberries for our anniversary, rum and chocolates at night… they kept surprising us each day! Any hotel can have beautiful rooms and facilities, but it’s the ones that make you feel like you are at home that you want to return to again and again. I fell in love with this hotel and its staff instantly. Don’t miss the manager’s reception on Wednesdays, and take advantage of the watersports staff taking you around on the hobie cats. It’s a wonderful way to see this side of Grace Bay and get a mini history tour about the area.

We also enjoyed taking a stroll off-property for some local fare. Grace Bay Club is situated in the perfect location not too far from several shopping areas and local spots. We loved the burgers at Big Al’s and the ambiance of the Landing – a boat turned bar! My favorite dining option though was the pop-up taco bar on property called Just Tacos. I’m still thinking about their mango salsa!

Our third day took us to Parrot Cay. You are taken to their lounge on the water until you board their private boat to the island. The boat ride is amazing with the bluest water you’ve ever seen. Only 25 minutes later and you’re on island and taken by golf cart to your haven in paradise. We had the 1 bedroom Como Suite and again the space was perfect for our family. Our deck stretched the entire length of the building and having 2 full bathrooms allowed us to spread out. Como completed a renovation in December 2017, adding improvement to the rooms.

Once you’re on island, the hotel is the island. But the activities keep you busy for the week! A newly-constructed yoga pavilion with extraordinary views, a kids club in the works (ready some time end of the year), non-motorized watersports, and hands down the clearest most beautiful water I have ever seen. We enjoyed the nightly bonfires on the beach as the kids ran around crazy with their new found friends from all over the world – Berlin, London, Switzerland, New York and California.
