An unexpected treat in Lisbon!

When looking for a centrally-located hotel in beautiful Lisbon, Portugal, I happened upon a Virtuoso Member property called the Valverde Hotel. A former home, this cozy townhouse-style hotel opened in 2014 and is a luxury boutique property with personal service, charm and elegance. It is discreetly snuggled along the Avenida da Liberdade, and near fabulous shopping, so you don’t have to go far to enjoy the fashions of this modern country. With warm, contemporary and classic furnishings and design, you will immediately feel at home. The caring nature of the staff will also ensure you feel welcome. Being upgraded to a spacious junior suite (with a huge shower and a very comfortable king bed) was a nice treat and our view faced the Avenida da Liberdade. We enjoyed the changing leaves on the trees outside our window as the energy of the city passed by.

The Valverde has its own restaurant with a special courtyard view and culinary surprises. Serving typical Portuguese dishes, as well as classical cuisine, there is something for everyone. There is even afternoon tea, for those who enjoy the famous tapas of the area. To be in touch with the locals, you only have to wander around the block to find special hideaways with tasty treats, also.

The Pateo, adjacent to the restaurant, offers a relaxing atmosphere for reading or meeting friends, continuing the intimate environment that makes this property so special. Sit back and enjoy the garden and pool while having a beverage of your choice – and maybe a snack. You won’t want to leave.
