Video: Top Trends in Travel

Andavo Travel was featured on KSL’s Studio 5 morning show in Salt Lake City, Utah yesterday.  One of Andavo’s travel advisors, Collette Peck, was interviewed about the latest travel trends.

Travel Trend #1: Travel Advisor Comeback
The first overall trend we’re seeing in the travel industry is that travelers have rediscovered the benefit of a travel agent. They don’t have time to research and compare the endless info/reviews found on online booking sites and they enjoy the peace of mind that comes from knowing you have someone to turn to if something goes wrong on your trip.

When should you use a travel agent vs. booking travel online?

  • Save Time: When you want to avoid hours of internet research and price comparisons
  • Save Money: Travel advisors have access to pricing and amenities you don’t. Good travel advisors have personal contacts at 1,000+ airlines, cruise lines, hotels and resorts worldwide
  • Avoid Hassle: Travel advisors are your advocate in case of flight cancellations, delays or lost luggage
  • Customized: When you want first-hand experience to customize vacations (Andavo travel advisors are well-traveled and can give you real recommendations and reviews); a good travel advisor will ask questions to understand what’s important to you. Find your personal “best place to go, best place to stay, best things to do, best places to eat.”

Travel Trend #2: Family and multi-generational travel
One of the big trends we’re seeing is family and multi-generational trips. This is different from your typical family vacation, this latest trend of multi-generational travel is where the grandparents take all of their kids and grandkids on a trip at once.

Travel Trend #3: River Cruises
Most people are familiar with the mainstream cruise ships that do your standard itineraries in Mexico or the Caribbean. The latest trend is river cruising, with much smaller ships on much smaller waterways. Enables you to visit smaller/more ports and have a more intimate experience. · River cruising is such a great and easy way to see different cities in Europe while only having to pack and unpack once. The price of the cruise includes all your tours, so from the moment you get onboard everything is taken care of for you.

Travel Trend #4: Celebration Travel
More and more people are traveling to celebrate a honeymoon, milestone anniversary or birthday. Usually sort of a bucket list type of trip, on a larger scale than our clients’ usual vacation plans. They want to do something different than they have done in the past. Many times they include friends and family to join them in their celebration vacation. Often we have requests for a multi-generation traveling to celebrate mom and dad’s 50th wedding anniversary, which is usually a cruise.
